Graydon Parrish teaches color mixing - English
Il y a 15 ans
There is a fellow, Graydon Parrish, who is world renown for his painting, 911. It took four years to accomplish. Graydon needed a way to be consistent in his paint mixtures. He developed a way to do that and is sharing how to do that on many websites, one in particular that you must be a member to view the forums: http://www.rationalpainting.org. I think that what he has to teach should be offered to everyone. It is that revolutionary to me.

Graydon used the Munsell Color System. He matches the colors of the picture that he wants to paint with the color chips in the book. Why? Cause your eyes don't see color as clearly or accurately as you think. He demonstrates this on the site. He will convince you! He then mixes up exact and correct color. He can do this everytime. And he teaches you how to do it.

You locate your color in the book, or, if you have a Munsell software program and you can input your picture to determine the value, hue and chroma. You do this for every part of your picture. Then you go to the list, find the Munsell notation for your color there, and look to the right. It tells you what hues were used, who the manufacturer is, due to the fact that different manufacturers produce different results in their tube colors. He has located the ones that work and allow you to make clean colors. The amounts are not listed of how much of each tube to mix. You need to do that homework yourself. But, with so much given to you, you are so much closer to learning how to mix great color, like Graydon, and saving years of time and lots of mistakes. And not losing all your money while you are trying to learn how to create color!

I have posted the list of Munsell notations on my blog. Please go there and copy this information. You will want to have it as a resource. My blog is found at: http://www.momsmanyhobbies.blogspot.com. You can also buy a Munsell Color System poster here: http://www.babelcolor.com/main_level/Munsell.htm for only $35.00, deluxe. That way, if you don't need to buy the Munsell Book, you save $$$. The book is hundreds of dollars! There is a free on line Munsell Color Chart here: http://www.uni-mannheim.de/fakul/psycho/irtel/colsys/

There is a free Munsell software program, not the one from Wallkill Color. You have to pay for theirs now. This one is found here: http://www.ing.unibs.it/~zkovacs/color/colori.html Besides being an artist himself, this man is a genius and you can see that here: http://www.ing.unibs.it/~zkovacs/ The program that he shares freely lets you choose the colors you want to use and shows you how much of each tube to use to create the color. Armed with what Graydon teaches and this program, you are closer to developing your own prefect color recipes!!! What do you think?
